Listen well to the whispers of the heart...
let this breath of intuition guide you, my friend,
as we embark upon our yogic journey.    -s.brow
Speak to me of lovely things, of treasures yet to be found, of peace that flows like a river.

Tell me of tranquil places that no hand has marred, no storm has scarred.

Give me visions of standing in the sunlight, or feeling the most against my cheek as I move and live and breathe...

Find me a place in the sun to sit and think and listen to the sweet inner voice that says so quietly, "Peace. Be still".

Yoga Basics...  A comfortably paced introductory class for those new to yoga.  Each  7-8week session includes an introduction to yoga philosophy,  fundamentals of  basic standing, seated, and restorative  poses with an emphasis on principles of alignment, breathing, body-specific modifications, and use of props.

'Just Sitting'... This is an introduction to basic Insight (Vipassana) meditation, offered in the Spring and Fall.  Once completing an initial session, students may attend without fees, or by donation.
 (Resumes in Oct 10)

Multi Level... For those with some yoga experience as well as the seasoned practitioner, with alternative poses or modifications offered to allow unique individual expression.  Instruction includes philosophy, standing and seated poses, twists, and beginning inversions with mindful alignment and attention to the breath.

(currently not in session)

Yoga Flow... 'Vinyasa' or to 'place in a special way', this class is a ‘linking’, or ‘continual flow’ of asana (postures) arising from Sun and Moon Salutations.  Initiated and tethered by the breath, this style becomes a moving form of meditation, strengthening our response and connection to life's 'present moments'.  Drawing from several yoga traditions and creative intuition, this class is well suited for those with prior yoga experience seeking a moderate cardiovascular challenge.

Yin, Yang, Yawn...An integrated practice balanced in three dimensions. Yin yoga, as popularized by Paul Grilley, is founded upon the theory of meridians (energy channels) which are believed to exist within the lattice of connective tissue throughout the body.  Yin yoga postures invite muscles to relax and are held between 3-5 minutes, specifically to encourage gentle stretching of the connective tissue layers, where Yang postures involve dynamic active muscle stretch.  Class flows as an integration of Yin and Yang postures, concluding with a ‘Yawn’, or supported restorative postures.

Restorative... A class offered at the transition of the seasons as a reminder to take time for ourselves.  Restorative poses are supported, relying little on muscular effort, allowing you to simply focus on ‘letting go’.  As you learn to observe the sensations of your body without identifying with them,  this  “nondoing”   acts as a window to the core of your being.  Turning deeper inward, you begin to realize how external perceptions are biased by internal emotions and sensations.

2010 Restoratives ...Feb 21, April 25, July 25, and  Nov 21
